Traveling in Italy

Are you planning a vacation to Italy? If so, you’ll want to make sure those plans include car rental. While there are local transportation options such as buses and tours, you’ll be able to cover more ground in less time with your own rented vehicle. With so much beauty and culture to explore, who wants to spend time waiting for a bus, or riding along with other people to a place you might not want to go? With a rental car, you can go exactly where you want and with full privacy of only your vacationing party. Taxis can get expensive and aren’t always as reliable. What if you can’t find a cab driver? Don’t take the risk of ruining your vacation, be prepared ahead of time.

When renting a car in Italy you will need an International Driving Permit. Before you set off for your vacation, make sure to stop by your local AAA office. They will offer you discount coupons on car rental as well as assistance with your International Driving Permit. Make sure to bring your current state registered drivers license. If you are outside of the USA, you will need your national drivers license from your country of origin.

If you are accustomed to driving in the USA, you will want to take special care when driving in Italy. Road rules and conditions will differ tremendously from what you are accustomed to. If your personal car insurance coverage extends to rental vehicles in other countries, that should suffice for coverage. However, if it does not you may want to consider the rental company’s vehicle insurance. After all, should you have an accident you don’t want it to ruin your vacation!
